Girls Outperform Boys in Class 12

In the recently declared CBSE Class 12 results for 2025, girls have once again outshone boys, continuing a trend observed in previous years. The overall pass percentage for girls stood at 91.64%, surpassing the boys’ pass percentage of 85.12% by a significant margin of 6.4%. This consistent performance highlights the growing academic excellence among female students across the country.

Transgender Students Achieve 100% Pass Rate

A remarkable achievement this year is the 100% pass rate among transgender students. All transgender candidates who appeared for the Class 12 examinations have successfully passed, marking a significant improvement from the 50% pass rate recorded in 2023. This progress underscores the positive impact of inclusive educational policies and support systems for the transgender community.

Increase in High Scorers

The number of students scoring above 90% and 95% has seen an upward trend compared to the previous year. In Class 12, 116,145 students scored 90% and above, an increase from 112,838 in 2024. Similarly, those scoring 95% and above rose from 22,622 last year to 24,068 this year. This surge in high scorers reflects the students’ dedication and the effectiveness of the revamped examination patterns.

Regional Performance Highlights

Region-wise, Thiruvananthapuram topped the list with an impressive pass percentage of 99.91%, followed by Vijayawada at 99.04%, and Chennai at 98.47%. In contrast, the Prayagraj region recorded the lowest pass percentage at 78.25%. These variations highlight the disparities in educational infrastructure and resources across different regions.

Government and Central Schools Lead

Government schools have shown notable improvement, with a pass percentage rising from 88.2% to 90.5%. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) continued to lead with outstanding pass percentages of 99.3% and 99.1% respectively, demonstrating the effectiveness of central government educational institutions. Independent schools reported the lowest pass rate at 87.9%, indicating areas for potential improvement.

Educational Reforms and Their Impact

The increase in high scorers and overall pass percentages can be attributed to the introduction of more competency-based questions in the examination papers, as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This shift in assessment patterns has encouraged critical thinking and application-based learning among students, leading to better preparedness and performance.

Encouraging Words from Leaders

Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged those who did not meet expectations to persevere. He emphasized that one examination does not define a person’s abilities and urged students to continue working hard towards their dreams. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his congratulations, acknowledging the efforts of students, families, and educators in achieving these results.

Conclusion

The CBSE Class 12 results for 2025 have showcased the academic prowess of girls and the transgender community, highlighting the positive outcomes of inclusive and reformed educational practices. While there are areas that require attention, the overall performance indicates a promising future for students across India. Continued support and investment in education will be crucial in sustaining and building upon these achievements.
