NEW DELHI, India – As several states grapple with the aftermath of severe flooding, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unequivocally declared that the Union government is standing “shoulder-to-shoulder” with all affected citizens. The assurance came during a high-level review meeting convened by the PM to assess the escalating crisis and galvanize a robust national response.
The meeting, which included top officials, served as a strategic command centre to evaluate the on-ground situation and the efficacy of ongoing relief measures. PM Modi was briefed in detail about the impact of heavy rainfall, which has triggered floods, landslides, and significant disruption across regions. The loss of lives and large-scale damage to property and public infrastructure was a key focus of the discussions.
“In this hour of distress, the entire nation stands with the people of the flood-affected states,” the Prime Minister stated. He emphasized that the central government is working in close tandem with state administrations to provide all necessary resources and support.
Moving from assessment to action, the meeting resulted in the immediate enhancement of disaster response mechanisms. The Prime Minister directed officials to ensure that the relief efforts are “in full swing” and that assistance reaches the impacted populations without delay. This includes:
