Apple’s upcoming iOS 18.2 update introduces an innovative battery charging time estimation feature, enhancing iPhone battery health management. This new feature, found in the iOS 18.2 beta by 9to5Mac, uses a framework called “BatteryIntelligence” to calculate and display the estimated time needed to fully charge the device. Until now, iPhone users could only view their battery percentage, with no guidance on how long a full charge would take. iOS 18.2 aims to fill this gap, enabling users to better manage their charging routines. This feature is expected to be included in the final release of iOS 18.2, set to launch in early December.
In addition to charging time estimates, iOS 18.2 introduces further customization options for battery health management. Users can now limit their iPhone’s maximum charge level to 80%, 85%, 90%, or 95%, providing more control over battery longevity. The update also includes alerts for charging with suboptimal chargers, notifying users if a slower charger is detected and recommending a more efficient option for optimal charging speeds. Alongside these battery-focused improvements, iOS 18.2 includes system performance enhancements and minor bug fixes, further refining user experience.
