- AAP slams BJP for not appointing a Chief Minister in Delhi despite winning with a strong majority.
- AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar claims BJP’s internal conflicts are causing governance issues in the capital.
- Reports of prolonged power cuts in Delhi have raised concerns about the delay in leadership.
Why is Delhi still without a Chief Minister?
After securing a decisive victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has yet to announce Delhi’s new Chief Minister. The delay has drawn sharp criticism from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which accuses BJP of internal disputes hindering the process. AAP’s chief spokesperson, Priyanka Kakkar, has pointed out that despite several days passing since the election results, BJP remains undecided on its leadership for the capital.
Kakkar claimed that BJP’s factionalism is evident, with party members struggling to agree on a leader. She stated that different factions are holding separate discussions instead of coming to a consensus. Meanwhile, the people of Delhi are facing hardships, including extended power cuts. AAP argues that the absence of a Chief Minister is impacting governance and calls on BJP to resolve its internal issues swiftly.
While BJP is caught up in internal debates, AAP has been actively engaging in post-election assessments. Arvind Kejriwal has been meeting with party leaders in Punjab, elected MLAs, and even candidates who lost, to gather feedback and plan improvements. AAP maintains that while they focus on strengthening their party, the responsibility of governing Delhi should not be neglected by BJP.
What’s next for Delhi’s leadership?
With rising concerns over administrative delays, the pressure is mounting on BJP to finalize a Chief Minister. The delay not only fuels criticism from the opposition but also affects essential services in the capital. AAP has urged BJP to put aside internal disagreements, appoint a leader, and ensure smooth governance for the people of Delhi. Until BJP resolves its internal conflicts, uncertainty looms over the capital’s administration.
