In a significant move towards women's empowerment, the Delhi government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), announced the 'Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana' on Monday. This groundbreaking scheme aims to provide financial assistance to women above the age of 18, ensuring their economic independence and societal participation.

During the state Assembly's budget session for the fiscal year 2024-25, Finance Minister Atishi unveiled the scheme, highlighting the government's commitment to supporting women's welfare. Under this initiative, every eligible woman in Delhi will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000. "The Kejriwal government is dedicated to empowering women. Through the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana, we are taking a step forward in this direction by providing a monthly benefit of Rs 1,000 to every woman aged 18 or above," Atishi stated.

The announcement was part of a budget presentation with an outlay of Rs 76,000 crore, focusing on various developmental aspects of the national capital. Emphasizing the government's vision, Atishi mentioned, "All of us are inspired by Lord Ram, and we have resolved to establish Ram Rajya in Delhi. Education has been our Raj Dharm since Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took office."

The finance minister also proposed a significant allocation of Rs 16,396 crore for the education sector, underscoring the government's priority towards building a robust educational infrastructure. "This is not just the presentation of our tenth budget but a reflection of the changing face of Delhi. The Kejriwal government has emerged as a beacon of hope, working tirelessly to realize the dream of Ram Rajya," she added.

The budget, inspired by the concept of 'Ram Rajya', aims to cater to every section of society, especially in an election year. Sources within the AAP government indicated that the budget's focus on inclusivity and welfare echoes the principles of Ram Rajya, ensuring provisions for all societal segments.

The 'Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana' marks a significant milestone in the Delhi government's efforts to enhance women's economic status and contribute to their overall empowerment. With this initiative, the government aims to encourage women's active participation in the economy and society, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable development in the national capital.
