- Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu calls Delhi’s development model a “total failure.”
- He claims poor infrastructure and water issues are affecting residents.
- Suggests a new approach focused on sustainable development and wealth creation.
Is Delhi’s Development Model Failing?
As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu has strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. He claims that Delhi’s “model of governance” has completely failed, leading to serious infrastructure problems, water quality issues, and lack of job opportunities.
Naidu stated that many residents in Delhi struggle to differentiate between drinking water and drainage water, despite central government schemes like AMRUT and Jal Jeevan Mission. He further argued that no major infrastructure projects have been developed in the last decade. According to him, long ago, Delhi saw the arrival of the Metro, but since then, no significant progress has been made.
The TDP chief also addressed the controversial liquor policy of the AAP government, calling it the “worst scam.” He recalled his own efforts in improving liquor quality in 1995, advocating for a more structured approach to governance.
What Should Be the Focus?
Naidu stressed that politics should shift focus from welfare-based ideology to sustainable development and wealth creation. He questioned whether politicians should distribute resources without first generating wealth, calling for a national debate on the issue.
He introduced his “P4” model—Public, Private, and People’s Partnership—as a solution to poverty. His vision includes the top 10% of wealthy individuals supporting the bottom 20% to uplift society.
Conclusion: A New Path for Development?
Naidu believes that Delhi needs a “double-engine government”—one that aligns with central leadership to drive development. He pointed out how Hyderabad, under his leadership, transformed into a thriving city with the highest per capita income in Telangana.
While praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he insisted that only sustainable economic growth can support welfare measures effectively. He urged political leaders to focus on development-driven policies rather than short-term populist strategies.
With elections approaching, Naidu’s remarks spark an important debate: Should Delhi continue with its current model, or is it time for a major shift in governance?
