Google I/O Connect India 2025: A New Era for AI Innovation
Bengaluru, July 23, 2025 – Google has reaffirmed its commitment to India’s rapidly evolving tech landscape with a series of major AI announcements at its Google I/O Connect India 2025 event. Held in the country’s Silicon Valley, Bengaluru, the conference highlighted how the tech giant is empowering Indian developers, startups, and businesses to lead the global AI revolution.
Empowering Developers with Cutting-Edge AI
Dr. Manish Gupta, Senior Director for India and APAC at Google DeepMind, kicked off the event by emphasizing India’s growing influence in AI-driven innovation. “Indian developers are scripting the next chapter of the nation’s success story,” he said. “By leveraging our AI models—Gemini, Gemma, Veo, and Imagen—they’re building transformative solutions that impact millions.”
Among the key announcements was the localization of Gemini 2.5 Flash, Google’s high-performance AI model, ensuring faster, more efficient processing for Indian applications in healthcare, finance, and public services. Additionally, Firebase Studio—Google’s cloud-based AI workspace—now features Agent Mode, enabling developers to create full-stack AI applications with simple prompts.
Strengthening India’s AI Ecosystem
Google is also deepening its collaboration with Indian startups under the India AI Mission, supporting homegrown innovations in AI model development. The company revealed partnerships with Soket AI, Sarvam, and Gnani, while its work with IIT Bombay’s Bharat Gen aims to enhance Indic language tools for underserved communities.
On the economic front, Google Play and Android contributed a staggering ₹4 lakh crore to India’s economy in 2024, supporting over 3.5 million jobs. The open-source nature of Android has reportedly saved Indian device makers ₹25,000 crore in development costs.
New Training Programs & Gaming Push
To further nurture talent, Google announced a free ‘Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training’ program in collaboration with state governments and the Game Developers Association of India (GDAI). This initiative aims to equip Indian developers with the skills needed to thrive in the booming gaming industry.
With these strategic moves, Google is not just investing in India’s AI future—it’s positioning the country as a global hub for innovation, job creation, and cutting-edge technology.
