The Hapkido Federation of India (HFI) successfully held the 8th National Hapkido Championship in New Delhi from October 19-20, 2024. The championship garnered an impressive turnout, with 550 participants from across the country competing in the prestigious event.
About Hapkido
Hapkido, a traditional Korean martial art, emphasizes harmony, balance, and adaptability. Originating in the 1940s and 1950s under Grandmaster Choi Yong-Sul, this martial art blends techniques like striking, throwing, and submissions, aiming for physical, mental, and spiritual growth.
Key Highlights of the Event
The event featured four main categories:
- Kyrogi (Sparring)
- Hoshinsool (Self-Defense Techniques)
- Kick Festival
- Long/High Fall Events
These competitions were segmented by age and weight to ensure fairness.
Leadership and Dignitaries
The growth of Hapkido in India has been guided by Premjit Sen, the President of HFI, whose dedication has been pivotal in expanding the sport. “Premjit Sen’s tireless work has been the backbone of Hapkido’s journey in India,” stated Rajnesh Choudhury, General Secretary of HFI.

Gratitude and Appointments
Premjit Sen expressed his appreciation to all state delegates, participants, and Master Vinod Vats, the General Secretary of Delhi Hapkido, for their efforts in making the event a success. Additionally, the championship recognized the appointment of Master Rajnesh Choudhury as the new General Secretary of HFI.
