This move follows the cancellation of the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) and allegations of a leak in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET-UG) paper.

- The central government recently passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. This act targets cheating and unfair practices in public exams and entrance tests.

- Cheating individuals face 3-5 years of imprisonment.
- Organized cheating operations face 5-10 years of imprisonment and a minimum fine of Rs 1 crore.
