Himachal Pradesh’s Congress government, led by Minister Vikramaditya Singh, has announced a new policy requiring shopkeepers and street vendors to display their identification details, similar to the model implemented in Uttar Pradesh. The decision, made during a joint meeting with the Public Works, Urban Development, and Municipal Corporation departments, aims to ensure that hygienic food is sold by street vendors.
Vikramaditya Singh emphasized the importance of addressing public concerns regarding the quality and hygiene of street food. He stated, “People expressed their concerns and doubts, and considering this, we have decided to implement a similar policy to that in UP, where vendors must display their names and IDs.”
This move aligns with measures taken by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who recently mandated that chefs and waiters wear masks and gloves and required the installation of CCTV cameras in hotels and restaurants. Himachal Pradesh’s new policy is expected to enhance transparency and public trust in street food vendors.
