Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent speeches during his visit to the U.S. have sparked sharp criticism from BJP leaders. Addressing issues like unemployment, production, and the role of the RSS in India, Gandhi made comments that were quickly condemned by members of the ruling BJP.
BJP Reactions to Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks:
- Gaurav Bhatia called Rahul Gandhi a “black spot on democracy,” criticizing him for his stance on unemployment and accusing him of portraying India as weak during his international speeches. Bhatia also accused Gandhi of not addressing issues like China in his remarks.
- Giriraj Singh, Union Minister, criticized Gandhi’s understanding of the RSS, stating that Gandhi would need “many births” to comprehend the organization’s ideology. Singh alleged that Gandhi travels abroad to defame India and claimed he is disconnected from India’s values.
- Nalin Kohli, BJP National Spokesperson, accused Gandhi of distancing himself from India’s rich heritage and of failing to present a balanced view of the nation’s challenges. Kohli pointed out that Gandhi often praises China but neglects India’s perspective on the bilateral relationship. He also criticized Gandhi’s description of India’s Parliament as a “war zone.”
What Rahul Gandhi Said:
In his speeches, Gandhi addressed unemployment and expressed concerns about India’s focus on consumption over production, contrasting India with China and Vietnam, which he suggested have successfully addressed job creation. He also reiterated his views on the RSS, emphasizing Congress’s belief in India as a “multiplicity of ideas” as opposed to the RSS’s view of India as a single idea.
