The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has partnered with Zomato to provide passengers with direct food delivery services during train journeys. Branded as “Zomato – Food Delivery in Trains,” this service has already delivered over 1 million orders across more than 100 railway stations in 88 cities.
This collaboration allows passengers to order from a variety of food options, including local delicacies and popular restaurant dishes, directly to their train compartments. Orders can be placed while the train is en route, with the food being delivered at designated stations. Non-passengers waiting at stations can also use the Zomato app to enjoy meals without leaving the station premises.
Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal shared the success of this initiative on social media, announcing its expansion. Initially launched in 2023 as a pilot program at five major stations, including New Delhi and Varanasi, the service has expanded due to positive feedback, reaching important hubs like Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Nagpur.
This partnership marks a significant enhancement in the train travel experience, leveraging Zomato’s restaurant network and IRCTC’s rail infrastructure to offer convenient, high-quality food options for travelers.
