Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS) in Coimbatore has unveiled its School of Sports Science, setting the stage for an innovative approach towards sports education and research in India. With the imminent introduction of a B.Sc. Sports Science program, KCLAS is poised to make a significant contribution to India’s sports landscape.
The importance of integrating sports into the formal education system was emphasized at the conclave, with speakers highlighting the potential to boost India’s medal tally at the Olympic Games. Ranveet Gill of New Horizons Alliance Pvt Ltd. stressed the need for greater participation in sports to enhance the country’s talent pool and, ultimately, its success on the global stage. Sports Science, as elucidated by speakers like David V. Rajan from Ortho-One Orthopaedic Speciality Centre, is increasingly recognized for its role in enhancing athletic performance and providing non-surgical medical interventions.
