In response to the recent NEET paper leak controversy and ongoing investigation, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has made a decisive move by writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and eight other chief ministers advocating for the abolition of the NEET exam nationwide.
Stalin proposes that admissions to medical colleges should be based solely on the marks obtained in class 12, to alleviate the undue stress on students. His outreach included a unanimous resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, currently pending Presidential assent, which seeks to exempt the state from NEET. Additionally, Stalin has engaged with Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, seeking support to voice Tamil Nadu’s stance against NEET in Parliament and encouraging other states to pass similar resolutions.
