Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated Bharat Tex 2024 at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, marking the beginning of one of India’s largest global textile events. This significant occasion is set to highlight India’s rich textile heritage and foster industry-wide collaboration. Union Minister Piyush Goyal, speaking at the event, emphasized the rapid growth of Bharat Mandapam and the urgent need for infrastructure expansion to accommodate the burgeoning demand.
The event, Bharat Tex 2024, aims to showcase the diverse handloom and handicraft traditions from various Indian states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. It has designated Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra as ‘Partner States’, recognizing their vital contributions to the textile sector, with Gujarat, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh as ‘Supporting Partner States’, adding to the event’s rich tapestry of textile presentations.
Prime Minister Modi, in his address, highlighted India’s stature as a leading producer of cotton, jute, and silk globally and the government’s support for cotton farmers through the purchase of cotton and the launch of Kasturi Cotton. This initiative is poised to forge a distinct identity for Indian cotton on the global stage.
