- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the MahaKumbh Mela in Prayagraj on February 5 and take a holy dip at the Sangam.
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will accompany him during the visit.
- The visit is expected to last about an hour, but there is no confirmation about his plans to visit other religious sites nearby.
Why is PM Modi’s Visit to Mahakumbh Important?
The MahaKumbh Mela is one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world, held every 12 years. Millions of devotees come to Prayagraj to take a holy dip in the sacred rivers, believing it washes away sins and brings blessings. PM Modi’s participation in the ritual highlights the cultural and religious significance of the event. His visit also emphasizes the government’s efforts to support and promote such traditional festivals.
A Significant Event for Devotees
PM Modi will reach Prayagraj at 10 AM and then travel to the VIP Ghat at Sangam by the Nishadraj Cruise. His visit will focus on performing the holy dip and prayers at the river, but it will not include his previously planned visit to the State Pavilion and Netra Kumbh. It is also unclear if he will visit other important temples like Akshayvat and Bade Hanuman Mandir.
This visit comes just months after his last trip to Prayagraj in December when he inaugurated multiple development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore. With the MahaKumbh attracting millions of visitors, the PM’s presence is expected to bring even more attention to the grand event.
