Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, heralded the beginning of a “rail kranti” or railway revolution in the state. At a rally in Sindri, Dhanbad, he flagged off three new trains, marking a major boost to the state’s railway connectivity. This move is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and connectivity across the country.
During his address, Prime Minister Modi reflected on the achievements of his government over the past decade, emphasizing the comprehensive welfare measures undertaken for the people of Jharkhand. “From women, tribals, Dalits, to people of all communities, our government has endeavored to integrate the state with the national mainstream,” he stated.
A highlight of the Prime Minister’s visit was the inauguration of the Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) Sindri Fertiliser Plant. PM Modi, who had laid the foundation stone for this plant in 2018, expressed his commitment to reviving the facility, which is expected to generate thousands of employment opportunities and contribute to India’s self-reliance in urea production. “This is a monumental step towards ‘Atma Nirbharta’,” he added, noting the significant increase in urea production over the last ten years.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Sindri also included the inspection of the newly resurrected Sindri fertilizer factory, operated by Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited. This factory is the third of its kind in the country to be restarted, following those in Gorakhpur and Ramagundam.
The event was attended by Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Champai Soren, and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya, among other dignitaries.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project in Chatra district to the nation, further underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing the state’s infrastructure.
This visit marks Prime Minister Modi’s first to Jharkhand since Champai Soren assumed the role of Chief Minister. It comes at a time when the state is navigating through political changes and focusing on development projects to boost its economy and infrastructure.
Following his engagements in Jharkhand, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit West Bengal, where he will dedicate projects worth Rs 7,200 crore to the region, including significant rail projects and improvements to the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata.
The initiatives launched by the Prime Minister in Jharkhand and his upcoming projects in West Bengal are poised to have a transformative impact on the regions, driving growth, enhancing connectivity, and fostering economic development.
