Saiyaara’s Box Office Domination: Newcomers Challenge Bollywood’s Biggest Stars
Mohit Suri’s latest romantic drama, Saiyaara, is rewriting box office rules. Starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film has stormed past the ₹100-crore milestone in just five days, proving that fresh faces can compete with Bollywood’s established superstars.
After a stellar opening weekend, Saiyaara maintained its momentum, earning ₹25 crore on Tuesday (Day 5), slightly up from Monday’s ₹24 crore. The film’s total domestic collection now stands at a staggering ₹132.25 crore, eclipsing Salman Khan’s Sikandar (₹129.95 crore) and inching closer to Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force (₹134.93 crore).
Breaking Records, Setting Benchmarks
Saiyaara isn’t just another romantic film—it’s a phenomenon. With ₹119 crore in its first three days, it now holds the record for the highest opening ever for a Bollywood romance, as reported by Yash Raj Films. Internationally, the movie added ₹17.25 crore over the weekend, further cementing its global appeal.
The film has already outperformed previous star-kid debuts like Alia Bhatt’s Student of the Year (₹70 crore lifetime) and Janhvi Kapoor’s Dhadak (₹73 crore). For director Mohit Suri, this is also a personal best—surpassing the opening numbers of his previous hits like Ek Villain and Aashiqui 2.
The Road Ahead: Can It Topple Aamir & Akshay?
Industry analysts predict Saiyaara will soon surpass Sky Force and set its sights on bigger milestones—Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par (₹164.74 crore), Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 (₹179.30 crore), and even Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 (₹198.41 crore).
Yash Raj Films has taken an unconventional approach, keeping ticket prices affordable and avoiding heavy promotions—yet the film’s organic success speaks volumes. With strong word-of-mouth and rising youth appeal, Saiyaara might just be Bollywood’s next big blockbuster.
