Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, has continued its remarkable run at the box office, amassing an impressive ₹606 crore worldwide in just two weeks since its release on August 15. The horror-comedy, a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, has been receiving widespread acclaim and strong support from audiences, resulting in record-breaking collections.
Box Office Performance According to Sacnilk’s estimates, Stree 2 earned approximately ₹9.75 crore in India on its fourteenth day, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹424.55 crore. The film maintained a Hindi occupancy rate of 18.16% on Wednesday, August 28, demonstrating its consistent popularity.
On the international front, Stree 2 has garnered ₹98.75 crore in overseas markets, bringing its worldwide total to ₹606 crore. This figure places the film among the highest-grossing Indian movies of 2024. Despite facing competition from Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa, Stree 2 has managed to hold its ground and attract large audiences.
Trade Analysts’ Take Trade analyst Taran Adarsh highlighted the film’s strong performance, particularly during weekdays, which suggests that Stree 2 is likely to enjoy a successful third weekend as well. He noted that the film’s minimal decline in collections from Tuesday to Wednesday indicates sustained interest from moviegoers even after a series of holidays.
Cast and Crew Reactions Abhishek Banerjee, who plays a pivotal role in Stree 2, recently shared his thoughts on the film’s success in an interview with FM. He acknowledged the challenge of living up to the legacy of the original Stree but expressed delight at the overwhelming love and box office numbers the sequel has received. Banerjee admitted that while he anticipated the film would perform well, the actual response has exceeded his expectations.
As Stree 2 continues its strong run, fans and the industry alike are eager to see how the film will fare in the coming weeks, especially as it edges closer to the ₹500 crore mark in domestic collections.
