JAIPUR – In a move set to significantly enhance regional connectivity and tourism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off three new train services from Rajasthan on Wednesday. The ceremony marks a pivotal step in modernizing the state’s transportation infrastructure, with the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express taking center stage.
The crown jewel of today’s launch is the new Vande Bharat Express, which will seamlessly link the historic blue city of Jodhpur with the economic hub of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. This state-of-the-art train is expected to drastically reduce travel time between the two cities, offering passengers a faster, smoother, and more comfortable journey equipped with modern amenities. The service is anticipated to be a major boon for business travelers and tourists exploring the vibrant culture of both states.
Beyond the Vande Bharat, the launch includes two other vital services designed to cater to diverse travel needs. The Rajasthan Sampark Kranti Express will provide a direct and faster rail link from Jaipur to the national capital, Delhi. This train is expected to be particularly beneficial for passengers requiring efficient connectivity to the capital.
Simultaneously, the introduction of the Dayodaya Express addresses pilgrim and regional travel demands. This train will run between Jodhpur and the holy city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, one of the world’s oldest continually inhabited cities and a premier spiritual destination. Additionally, a second route for the Dayodaya Express will connect the Rajasthani city of Bikaner with Durg in Chhattisgarh, strengthening inter-state links.
Analysts see this triple inauguration as a strategic investment by Indian Railways into the infrastructure of Western India. The new routes are designed not only to save travel time for countless passengers but also to stimulate economic activity and promote tourism by making Rajasthan’s iconic destinations more accessible than ever before. This development underscores a continued focus on enhancing rail connectivity as a catalyst for regional growth.
