The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) is all set to commence the Class 10 (HSLC) exams, marking a significant period for students across the state. Scheduled from February 16 to March 4, 2024, these exams will see participation from a whopping 2,80,216 students, spread across 876 centers. This announcement was made by the state education minister Ranoj Pegu through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting the scale of this academic endeavor.
For 2024, the SEBA has meticulously planned the exams to be conducted in pen and paper mode (offline), accommodating students in two shifts to ensure a smooth examination process. The morning shift, running from 9 am to 12 pm, will host most of the papers, while the afternoon shift, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, will cater to a few others. This structured approach aims to provide a conducive environment for all examinees.
In preparation for the exams, the board has already released and distributed the admit cards. These crucial documents, which include essential details like the student’s roll number, exam name and code, registration number, and exam center, were sent to zones and subsequently handed over to respective schools for distribution to students. It’s important to note that the admit card is mandatory for entry into the examination hall, reinforcing the board’s commitment to a disciplined and fair examination process.
On the exam day, students are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start time. They will be given an additional 5 minutes before the exam to familiarize themselves with the question paper, allowing them to strategize their approach effectively. The board has specified that only blue or black ink pens are to be used, with other colors being prohibited. Moreover, stringent measures will be in place to curb malpractices; any student found employing unfair means will face disqualification. Additionally, electronic gadgets such as calculators and mobile phones are banned from the examination room, ensuring an undistracted environment for all candidates.
Reflecting on the previous year’s performance, where 3,01,880 out of 4,15,324 students passed, achieving an overall pass percentage of 72.69%, the board anticipates a successful examination period this year as well. With meticulous planning and strict guidelines, SEBA aims to uphold the integrity and smooth conduct of the Class 10 exams, setting a positive precedent for the academic future of Assam’s students.
