In a robust diplomatic counter, India has firmly rejected Pakistan’s remarks concerning the recent consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The exchange, which took place through official channels, underscores the enduring sensitivity and political weight of the Ayodhya issue on the international stage.

The diplomatic friction began when Pakistan’s Foreign Office released a statement expressing concern over the temple’s construction, referencing the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid. This prompted a swift and unequivocal response from New Delhi.

Addressing the media, Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, did not mince words. He asserted that Pakistan’s reaction was not only unwelcome but also came from a position with “no moral standing.” Jaiswal’s statement emphasized that India finds it unacceptable for a nation with its own record on religious freedom to pass judgment on India’s internal affairs.

Elaborating further, the spokesperson turned the critique back towards Islamabad. The Indian response pointedly referenced the alleged systematic persecution of religious minorities within Pakistan itself. This, the statement implied, fundamentally undermines the credibility of Pakistan’s criticism and exposes what India perceives as hypocrisy.

The Ayodhya Ram Temple, a site of profound religious significance for millions of Hindus, was inaugurated in a grand ceremony on January 22. While celebrated as a historic event within India, it has clearly reverberated beyond the nation’s borders, becoming the latest focal point in the long-standing and often contentious dialogue between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. This latest verbal volley indicates that historical grievances and religious diplomacy will continue to play a significant role in their complex bilateral relations.
