The political battle between the opposition INDIA bloc and the Election Commission (EC) has intensified, with the alliance now preparing an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar. The move follows explosive allegations of “voter chori” (voter theft) during recent elections, a charge the EC has firmly denied.
Opposition Demands Accountability
Leaders of the INDIA coalition have accused the EC of failing to safeguard electoral integrity, claiming irregularities in voter registration and polling processes. They argue that discrepancies in voter lists and alleged manipulation have undermined democracy. “If the EC cannot ensure free and fair elections, it must be held accountable,” said a senior opposition leader.
EC Fires Back – ‘Show Proof’
The Election Commission, however, has dismissed the allegations as baseless. In a sharp rebuttal, the poll body challenged the opposition to provide documented evidence before making such serious claims. “The EC operates with complete transparency.
