The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of stern warnings, predicting the cyclone will bring with it a period of severe weather characterized by intense rainfall and damaging winds, posing a significant threat to life and property.
According to the latest IMD bulletins, coastal districts in several states are likely to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the coming 48 hours. The weather office has specifically highlighted the risk of squally winds, with speeds expected to reach alarming intensities, potentially leading to widespread damage to infrastructure, power outages, and disruption of essential services.
In a proactive response to the escalating situation, state administrations have shifted into disaster management mode. A senior official confirmed that the preparation of relief shelters is already underway in low-lying and coastal regions expected to bear the brunt of the cyclone. “Evacuation procedures for citizens in the most vulnerable areas are being prioritized.
