The flight in question was an IAF C-17 Globemaster aircraft carrying crucial disaster relief materials for Sri Lanka, which is currently grappling with severe flooding and landslides.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) was swift and unequivocal in its response. An official spokesperson labeled the Pakistani assertion as “absolutely ridiculous and baseless.”
“The flight to Sri Lanka was a pre-planned humanitarian assistance mission. The chosen route did not require flying over Pakistani airspace. Therefore, the question of any request being made to Pakistan, or subsequently being denied, simply does not arise,” the MEA official stated, effectively trashing the neighbor’s claims.

By framing the narrative around Pakistan’s “denial,” Islamabad may have aimed to score a diplomatic point. However, India’s firm clarification, highlighting that the route was never a factor, seeks to shift the focus back to what it states is the core issue: uninterrupted humanitarian support for a friendly neighbor.
