  • UAE resumes select flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports on March 2
  • Priority given to stranded travellers and passengers with earlier bookings
  • Full commercial operations remain suspended due to ongoing Gulf tensions

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have initiated a partial resumption of flight services from Dubai and Abu Dhabi on Monday, offering relief to thousands of travellers left stranded due to escalating geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region.

The move comes after widespread disruptions to air travel following recent military developments that forced several Middle Eastern countries to shut down airspace temporarily. Major aviation hubs in the UAE had suspended operations over the weekend, leaving passengers uncertain about travel plans as security concerns intensified across the region.

Officials confirmed that only a limited number of flights will operate initially, with priority being given to passengers who already held confirmed bookings prior to the suspension. Airlines have also advised travellers not to head to airports unless they receive official confirmation regarding their departure schedules in order to avoid overcrowding at terminals.

National carriers including Emirates and Etihad Airways are expected to run select services under strict safety oversight. These special operations are primarily intended to facilitate the departure of stranded passengers and assist repatriation efforts during the ongoing crisis.

Despite the gradual restart, scheduled commercial operations between several international destinations remain suspended. Authorities continue to monitor developments closely before making any decision on restoring full scale flight services.

Regional tensions have triggered significant travel disruptions across the Middle East, forcing airlines to cancel or delay numerous flights over the past few days. Aviation regulators in the UAE stated that further updates regarding normal operations will depend on evolving security conditions and airspace accessibility.

Passengers have been urged to stay connected with airline communication channels for the latest travel advisories as the situation remains fluid.
