Today marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Indian Railways with Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off 10 new Vande Bharat Express trains. This major expansion brings the total to over 50 Vande Bharat services, enhancing connectivity across 45 routes nationwide and bolstering the network that now spans 24 states and 256 districts.

During the ceremony, PM Modi emphasized the inauguration’s importance for the youth, linking today’s advancements to a brighter, more promising future. He highlighted that the foundation laid today serves as a testament to the nation’s willpower and the developmental strides taken over the past decade.

The addition of these 10 trains follows the December 2023 inauguration of six Vande Bharat trains, further solidifying the Express’s status as a cornerstone of modern, efficient travel within India. The new routes include diverse connections such as Lucknow-Dehradun, Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad, and New Jalpaiguri-Patna, among others. Notably, six routes will now be served by two Vande Bharat trains, ensuring even greater accessibility and convenience for passengers.

In addition to the new services, Modi announced the extension of four existing Vande Bharat routes, expanding their reach to cities like Prayagraj, Mangaluru, Dwarka, and Chandigarh. These moves underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing the country’s railway infrastructure and ensuring that high-speed travel reaches every corner of India.

Launched in 2019, the Vande Bharat Express has become synonymous with speed, comfort, and innovation, featuring modern amenities such as ambient lighting, aircraft-style toilets, and European-style seating. Looking ahead, Indian Railways is developing a sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express for overnight travel, with a prototype currently in the works in Bengaluru.

Today’s launch not only celebrates the expansion of India’s high-speed rail network but also signals a new era of connectivity and development, promising a smoother, faster, and more enjoyable travel experience for millions across the nation.
