In the latest counter-terrorism effort in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian security forces have successfully killed a Pakistani terrorist linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group during a coordinated operation in Kathua district. Officials confirmed the development late Friday evening following intense engagement in the Billawar and Parhetar regions of Kathua.

Inspector General of Police for the Jammu range, Bhim Sen Tuti, announced that the militant was neutralised by a small contingent from the Jammu and Kashmir Police working in close coordination with the Indian Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The operation was launched on credible intelligence that indicated the presence of the terrorist in remote, forested terrain near the international border.

Authorities have identified the slain militant as Usman, a Pakistani national and a Jaish-e-Mohammad commander believed to have been operating in the region for over two years after crossing the border. The joint forces were able to cordon off the area and engage effectively during the encounter, resulting in his death.

During the operation, security personnel recovered a significant cache of weapons, including an M4 automatic rifle and other ammunition, underscoring the tactical threat posed by the militant. The seizure of these arms is expected to hamper further plans of terror attacks in the region.

Officials stated that follow-up search operations are still underway to track any additional terrorist presence or infrastructure in the area. This encounter comes amid ongoing security efforts to dismantle terror networks and prevent cross-border infiltration along sensitive border districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The elimination of this high-value target is being seen as a notable achievement for security forces amid increased vigilance and intelligence-driven operations aimed at safeguarding civilian lives and stabilising the border regions.
