- Shaina NC, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and spokesperson, will contest from Mumbadevi on a Shiv Sena ticket in the Maharashtra assembly elections.
- Eknath Shinde also filed his nomination from Kopri-Pachpakhadi, marking the stakes for his party in crucial constituencies.
- The ruling Mahayuti alliance (BJP, Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP) and the MVA opposition (Shiv Sena UBT, NCP Sharad Pawar faction, and Congress) are vying for dominance in the November 20 elections.
In a strategic move, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has named BJP spokesperson Shaina NC as the candidate for Mumbadevi, a constituency traditionally held by Congress since 2009. This announcement follows a list of 20 other candidates fielded by Shinde’s faction, reflecting a strong alliance between Shiv Sena and BJP. The decision underlines Shinde’s bid to bolster his faction’s influence across diverse Maharashtra regions, as he vies against Shiv Sena (UBT) and other opposition parties.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place on November 20, with results announced on November 23. Both Mahayuti and MVA alliances are fully committed to securing as many of the 288 seats as possible. The Mumbadevi constituency will be a key battleground as both alliances seek to assert control in the state’s politically charged landscape.
