- ED attaches Anil Ambani’s ₹3700 crore Mumbai residence ‘Abode’
- Action linked to alleged loan diversion involving Reliance Communications
- Total attached assets in the case now exceed ₹15,700 crore
In a major development in the ongoing financial investigation involving the Reliance Group, the Enforcement Directorate has provisionally attached industrialist Anil Ambani’s lavish residential property named ‘Abode’ located in Mumbai’s upscale Pali Hill area.
According to official sources, the property is valued at approximately ₹3716 crore and has been attached under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The move is part of a wider probe into alleged financial irregularities and loan diversion connected to Reliance Communications.
The attached residence is a 17 storey luxury structure and forms part of the Enforcement Directorate’s expanding investigation into suspected bank fraud involving companies linked to the Reliance Anil Ambani Group. Officials confirmed that with this latest attachment, the total value of assets seized in connection with the case has now crossed ₹15,700 crore.
The agency’s action follows earlier cases registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation that reportedly involve allegations of cheating, bribery and diversion of public funds by entities associated with the group.
Investigators believe that loans obtained from financial institutions may have been diverted through a network of related entities, prompting authorities to intensify scrutiny of financial transactions tied to the companies under investigation.
The provisional attachment marks one of the most high profile legal actions taken recently in connection with the ongoing money laundering probe involving businesses linked to Anil Ambani. Authorities are expected to continue tracing additional assets as the investigation progresses.
