  • NIA arrests Yasir Ahmad Dar, the ninth accused in the Red Fort blast case.
  • Dar allegedly pledged allegiance and an oath of self-sacrifice in the terror plot.
  • Delhi court remands him to NIA custody as the ongoing investigation expands.

New Delhi The National Investigation Agency has detained the ninth suspect in connection with the deadly vehicle explosion near the historic Red Fort area that killed at least 15 people and injured many others in November. The latest arrest was made on Thursday in the capital, adding another key figure to the growing roster of those facing charges in the high-profile terror probe.

The accused has been identified as Yasir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials allege that Dar was closely linked to other suspects in the case, including the suicide bomber who carried out the attack and another key conspirator. According to investigative sources, Dar actively participated in planning the attack and is said to have sworn an oath to undertake self-sacrificial operations in support of the plot.

After his arrest in New Delhi, Dar was presented before a special court where prosecutors sought custodial interrogation to further the inquiry. The court granted the National Investigation Agency’s request and remanded him to the agency’s custody until December 26 to aid in ongoing questioning and evidence gathering. Court proceedings were conducted under tight security with limited media access.

This arrest comes as investigators comb through a web of associates believed to have facilitated logistics, communications, and other aspects of the operation that culminated in the blast. NIA officials have said that Dar maintained regular contact with other accused in the conspiracy, and his arrest could be crucial in uncovering deeper layers of the network behind the attack.

The agency continues to coordinate with state and central law enforcement units to trace all links and potential accomplices connected to the incident. The probe has involved extensive searches across multiple states and the seizure of digital devices and other materials believed to be pivotal to understanding the full scope of the terrorist conspiracy.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities aim to piece together how the attack was planned and executed, and whether any broader networks were involved in supporting or directing the plot. The NIA’s actions highlight the emphasis on dismantling any remaining operational structures tied to the deadly blast, which shook the national capital and raised significant security concerns across the country.
