Odisha Parab is poised to bring the vibrant spirit of Odisha to Guwahati through a grand cultural and tourism showcase that celebrates the State’s rich heritage and creative legacy. Scheduled from 30 January to 1 February at the Radisson Blu Hotel, the event aims to introduce audiences in the North East to Odisha’s traditions, artistry, and diverse tourism experiences in an engaging and immersive format.
Known as one of India’s most culturally rich regions, Odisha is a land where classical art forms, folk traditions, handloom excellence, and natural beauty exist in seamless harmony. From its timeless dance traditions and intricate crafts to its distinctive cuisine and spiritual heritage, the State reflects the depth of India’s cultural diversity. Odisha Parab seeks to present this multifaceted identity beyond state borders, allowing new audiences to connect with its living traditions.
Following the successful edition of Odisha Parab in Bengaluru, the Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha, has expanded the initiative to multiple cities across the country. Odisha Parab Guwahati marks the second edition of this national outreach and holds strategic importance due to Guwahati’s position as a cultural and transit hub of the North East. The initiative is designed to strengthen cultural ties and tourism linkages between Odisha and the North Eastern states.
The three day showcase is being organised by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, with active participation from the Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department, ORMAS, ADISHA, and the Mission Shakti Department. Together, these departments aim to create a holistic representation of Odisha by bringing culture, cuisine, crafts, textiles, and tourism under one roof.
A key attraction of Odisha Parab Guwahati will be live craft demonstrations by master artisans from Odisha. Visitors will have the opportunity to witness traditional handicrafts being created in real time, offering insight into the skill, technique, and heritage behind the State’s renowned craft traditions. Dedicated stalls will display a wide range of handlooms and handicrafts, including GI tagged products and handwoven textiles. Direct interaction with artisans will allow visitors to understand the stories and traditions behind each creation while taking home authentic pieces of Odisha’s cultural legacy.
The culinary experience at Odisha Parab Guwahati will be equally immersive, featuring live cuisine demonstrations and curated food stalls serving authentic Odia dishes. The showcase will reflect the diversity of Odisha’s food culture, from tribal flavours and coastal specialities to traditional desserts such as Chhena Poda. A major highlight will be live cooking sessions by MasterChef Abinash Nayak from Odisha, who will present classic recipes along with contemporary interpretations inspired by traditional flavours.
Cultural performances will add energy and rhythm to the event, with a vibrant line up of classical, folk, and tribal art forms. Audiences can expect performances such as Odissi, Gotipua, Sambalpuri, Paika Akhada, Ghumura, Sahijata, Dhemsa, Chhau, and Ghuduki. Together, these performances will offer a comprehensive glimpse into Odisha’s rich performing arts heritage and storytelling traditions.
Beyond culture and cuisine, Odisha Parab Guwahati will also focus on promoting the State’s tourism potential. Visitors will be introduced to Odisha’s destinations, heritage circuits, and experience driven travel offerings. Special initiatives including a Diaspora Meet and a Tourism Roadshow will create platforms for engagement with the Odia diaspora, tourism stakeholders, business communities, and government representatives, encouraging dialogue and collaboration.
A high level delegation led by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Pravati Parida, along with senior officials, will attend the event and interact with members of the Odia diaspora, tour operators, and prospective investors from the North East. These interactions aim to strengthen tourism partnerships, promote investment opportunities, and support long term collaboration aligned with Odisha’s vision for cultural and tourism development.
More than a cultural festival, Odisha Parab Guwahati is envisioned as a space for exchange, dialogue, and shared celebration. The event reflects Odisha’s commitment to preserving its heritage while promoting sustainable tourism, inclusive outreach, and experience led destination promotion, reinforcing cultural connections across regions and communities.
