In a landmark administrative move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed Seva Teerth complex in New Delhi, marking a significant shift in India’s governance infrastructure. The inauguration was held on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of New Delhi being declared the national capital of the country.
The Seva Teerth complex will now house the Prime Minister’s Office along with the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat. By bringing these critical administrative bodies together under one roof, the government aims to improve coordination, enhance efficiency, and streamline decision making processes at the highest level.
This move also marks the relocation of the PMO from the historic South Block, which had served as the centre of executive decision making for decades. Officials said the shift represents an effort to transition from colonial era administrative frameworks toward modern and citizen focused governance systems.
According to government statements, the new complex has been designed to reflect a service oriented governance philosophy, with integrated digital systems and improved infrastructure to facilitate faster and more transparent functioning. The initiative is part of a broader effort to modernise administrative institutions and create a more accessible governance environment for citizens.
The inauguration of Seva Teerth is being seen as a symbolic as well as structural transformation in India’s administrative framework, aligning governance spaces with contemporary needs while commemorating a historic milestone in the evolution of the national capital.
