In a significant boost to India’s defence manufacturing capabilities, Adani Defence & Aerospace has inaugurated South Asia’s largest integrated ammunition and missile production complex in Uttar Pradesh. The landmark event, graced by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande, marks a pivotal moment in India’s push towards self-reliance in defence production.
Located in Kanpur and sprawling over 500 acres, this facility is poised to become a cornerstone in the production of a wide range of ammunition, serving the needs of India’s armed and paramilitary forces. With an initial output of 150 million rounds of small calibre ammunition, the complex is set to fulfill a significant portion of the country’s annual ammunition requirement.
The inauguration was hailed as a testament to Uttar Pradesh’s growing industrial prowess and a significant step towards achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ or self-reliant India. The facility’s establishment underscores the critical importance of domestic production capabilities in ensuring national security and preparedness.
With an investment of over Rs 3,000 Crores, the complex is expected to generate more than 4,000 jobs, significantly impacting the local economy and the MSME sector. Adani Defence & Aerospace’s commitment to advancing India’s defence technology landscape extends to areas such as unmanned systems, counter-drone technologies, and cyber defence, positioning the company at the forefront of India’s defence innovation.
This strategic move by Adani Defence & Aerospace not only strengthens India’s defence manufacturing sector but also aligns with the broader goal of enhancing national security through self-sufficiency and technological advancement.
