AHMEDABAD – In a major infrastructure boost for Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a comprehensive portfolio of development projects totaling a massive ₹34,200 crore on Tuesday. The move is seen as a significant step in bolstering the state’s core industries and enhancing its logistical capabilities.
The projects, to be launched across the state, are strategically focused on energy security, modernizing transportation networks, and strengthening the power transmission grid. This large-scale investment underscores the central government’s continued focus on accelerating development in the western state, a key industrial hub of India.
A cornerstone of this development wave is in the energy sector. The Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the Bhatinda Panipat section of the Mundra-Panipat Pipeline, a crucial artery for fuel transportation. Furthermore, he will inaugurate a new LPG Pipeline project from Kandla to Gorakhpur, which is expected to ensure a smoother and more efficient supply of cooking gas across several states.
In a significant push for the petrochemical industry, the PM will lay the foundation stone for a new Maleic Anhydride plant at the Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals (GSFC) facility in Vadodara. This project is aimed at reducing India’s dependence on imports of this key chemical used in various industries.
Adding to the list of inaugurations is Indian Oil’s state-of-the-art Propylene Derivative Petrochemicals Project (PDPP) and a Dual Feed Cracker Unit, both poised to enhance the nation’s self-reliance in the petrochemical domain.
Beyond oil and gas, the development package includes a substantial focus on rail and power infrastructure. Multiple railway projects, including new electrified lines and double-line sections, are set to be inaugurated, promising improved connectivity and faster travel. The power sector will receive a boost with the inauguration of a new electricity transmission project by POWERGRID, designed to improve the reliability and capacity of the grid in the region.
This comprehensive development initiative is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and create a ripple effect, fostering economic growth and industrial expansion throughout Gujarat and its neighboring regions.
