The Supreme Court is set to hear a series of pleas on July 8, alleging paper leaks and irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Under Graduate (NEET-UG) 2024, held on May 5. The pleas are listed before a bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra. These petitions challenge the integrity of the NEET-UG exam, raising concerns over the alleged paper leak and subsequent anomalies.
How Has the NTA Responded?
In response to these allegations, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Centre informed the Supreme Court on June 13 that they had annulled the grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates affected by the alleged irregularities. These candidates were offered a choice to either retake the exam on June 23 or forego the compensatory marks awarded for lost time. Consequently, 813 students opted to sit for the retest across seven centers.
