Bharat Tex 2024, the landmark event dedicated to showcasing the rich tapestry of Indian handlooms and handicrafts, concluded on a triumphant note, leaving a lasting impression on artisans, buyers, and enthusiasts alike. Spearheaded by the Development Commissioner Handicrafts (DCH), Ms. Amrit Raj, and her team, the event was hailed as a monumental success, drawing attention to the exquisite craftsmanship and vibrant cultural heritage of India. The grand success of Bharat Tex 2024, a pivotal event showcasing the splendor of Indian textiles and handicrafts, can be attributed to the dedicated efforts of the Ministry of Textiles & DC Handicrafts team. The team worked tirelessly to ensure the event not only highlighted India’s rich textile heritage but also opened new avenues for artisans and weavers across the country.

Darshana Vikram Jardosh, the Minister of State for Textiles, Secretary (Textiles) Ms. Rachna Shah, Dr. M Beena, IAS, serving as the Development Commissioner (Handloom), and Ms. Amrit Raj, the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), played key roles in orchestrating the event. Their leadership and vision were instrumental in bringing together diverse elements of India’s textile sector under one roof. Alongside them, a committed team of officers and officials from the Ministry of Textiles & DC Handicrafts worked behind the scenes, coordinating with artisans, NGOs, and industry stakeholders to facilitate a seamless and enriching experience for all attendees. By providing a platform for artisans to showcase their work to a global audience, the Ministry of Textiles team has significantly contributed to the empowerment of the textile community and the preservation of India’s cultural heritage.

The event witnessed an unprecedented participation of approximately 2,400 students and professors from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), who brought their creativity and innovation to the forefront. Additionally, 106 NGOs showcased their unique products, managing to captivate exporters and opening new avenues for their crafts in the global market.

A highlight of Bharat Tex 2024 was the fashion show, orchestrated by a team of 150 professionals. This segment of the event showcased a fusion of traditional and contemporary designs, emphasizing the global appeal and versatility of Indian handicrafts. Furthermore, 21 eminent speakers and resource persons delivered insightful speeches, exploring new horizons for artisans and encouraging them to embrace modern techniques while preserving the essence of their traditional practices. The event also served as a vibrant marketplace for the artisans of handloom and handicrafts, who displayed their garments and utilitarian products in an attractive manner. Stalls featuring Muga Silk from Assam and textile-related products made from natural, eco-friendly fibers belonging to various tribes of the North East, including Naga, Deori, Bodo, Mising, Mizo, Khasi, etc., were particularly noteworthy. These products drew significant interest from visitors, with many artisans reporting substantial orders from bulk buyers, highlighting the event’s success in facilitating business opportunities.
