On its 21st day, Stree 2, headlined by Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, maintained its box office momentum by collecting Rs 5.5 crore, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk. Despite the dip in collections, the Amar Kaushik-directed horror-comedy is still going strong, with a global total of Rs 750 crore.
The film, which had its lowest day of earnings on Day 21, has already matched the opening day collection of Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein, which earned Rs 5.05 crore on its first day. With the weekend ahead, Stree 2 is expected to regain some momentum, and analysts predict it could bounce back strongly.
So far, the film has amassed Rs 520 crore nett in India, putting it in close competition with Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which earned Rs 524.53 crore in its Hindi run, and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which concluded with Rs 525.70 crore. If Stree 2 pulls in another Rs 5 crore, it will surpass Gadar 2’s lifetime earnings within the next few days.
With Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency postponed and the limited Hindi release of Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT, Stree 2 enjoys a clear week at the box office, further fueling its impressive run. The film’s double-digit occupancy, particularly night shows exceeding 18%, has contributed to its strong performance in its third week.
As Stree 2 inches closer to Jawan’s Hindi box office record of Rs 584 crore, it is expected to surpass it before the month ends, ahead of the highly anticipated release of Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor’s Devara: Part One.
The film’s success has brought immense joy to its cast and crew, making Stree 2 the biggest Bollywood hit of the year. However, the celebrations have been accompanied by a social media credit war among the lead actors’ fans, who argue over who should receive more recognition for the film’s success.
Director Amar Kaushik recently addressed the situation, explaining that such battles are not unusual when a film achieves significant success. Speaking to India Today, Kaushik said, “Honestly, fans of stars usually have this fight on social media where they claim their favorite actor should get all the credit for the movie. It is okay. It is really to each their own.”
He clarified that the internal camaraderie among the cast and crew remains unaffected by the external influences fueling the credit debate, adding, “When a film does well, people around the stars feed such things into everyone’s minds, including the cast, that they should get credit for the movie.”
As Stree 2 continues its record-breaking run, all eyes are on how high it will soar in the weeks to come.
