Aarti Hamal, the 36-year-old daughter of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Gopal Hamal, who had mysteriously vanished from a Goa meditation retreat, was discovered safe in a hotel in North Goa’s Mandrem area. Aarti had been participating in programs at an Osho meditation center for several months before she went missing earlier this week, sparking a widespread search operation by the Goa police following a missing person report.
The alarm was raised when Aarti’s friend alerted her family about losing contact with her, prompting Mayor Hamal to seek help through a social media plea. In his post, he detailed Aarti’s dedication to Osho meditation and her last known location near Zorba Beach, Ashwem. The family, deeply concerned for Aarti’s well-being, quickly mobilized efforts to find her, with her sister Arzoo and brother-in-law flying to Goa to aid in the search.
In a turn of events filled with anxious waiting and uncertainty, the family received an outpouring of support, with over 500 calls from individuals providing leads on Aarti’s whereabouts. Some callers had reportedly seen her near a bridge in Siolim, leading to speculations about her being taken to a hospital or police station. The collective effort of the community, police, and the family eventually led to Aarti’s safe discovery at a hotel, bringing relief to her loved ones and those involved in the search.
This incident highlights the crucial role of community and law enforcement cooperation in ensuring the safety of individuals, even as it underscores the unpredictable nature of such disappearances. Aarti’s safe return is a testament to the power of collective action and the importance of staying vigilant in the face of uncertainty.
