Following the tremendous success of its debut, Ananya Panday’s hit series Call Me Bae has been renewed for a second season on Prime Video. The show, known for its light-hearted yet emotionally resonant narrative, has garnered a large audience by blending humor with themes of self-identity, privilege, and empowerment.
An Engaging Storyline
Call Me Bae explores the life of its titular character, Bae, in a self-aware and spirited take on modern-day privilege. It cleverly references iconic pop-culture moments while also offering moments of emotional depth. The show’s portrayal of #Behencode, empowerment, and personal belief systems has deeply resonated with viewers.
At the India Today Mind Rocks Youth Summit 2024 in Bengaluru, Ananya Panday shared her thoughts on the series’ deeper themes. Speaking about the show’s underlying messages, she said, “Call Me Bae stands up for women, women empowerment, and even touches on the MeToo issue. It’s something I may not have been fully able to speak about in real life, but if I can do it through my work, it makes an impact.”
She also emphasized the importance of choosing roles that align with her personal beliefs, noting that, as an actor, the work she puts out influences the audience, which is why it’s crucial to remain aware of the impact her projects can have.
Star-Studded Cast
Alongside Ananya Panday, the ensemble cast includes Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur. With the second season on the horizon, fans are eagerly awaiting what’s next for Bae and the rest of the cast.
