PATNA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a dual-pronged offensive in Bihar on Friday, combining a massive ₹13,000 crore development blitz with a firm political narrative on national security and governance. During his visit, the PM inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a slew of projects while sending a clear message on his government’s key priorities.

The centerpiece of the visit was a significant push towards enhancing Bihar’s infrastructure and energy security. The portfolio of projects, cumulatively worth approximately ₹13,260 crore, spans critical sectors. Key highlights include the inauguration of a new LPG pipeline project aimed at ensuring a seamless supply of cooking gas and the foundation laying for multiple petroleum and natural gas pipelines designed to boost energy connectivity in the region.

Shifting from development to governance, Prime Minister Modi mounted a vigorous defence of the new anti-corruption bills passed by Parliament—the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. He positioned these laws as a cornerstone of his administration’s relentless fight against graft.

“It is our unwavering commitment to ensure that the corrupt are held accountable. These new laws are a testament to our zero-tolerance policy towards corruption,” the PM stated before a gathered crowd, framing the legislation as a necessary evolution from what he described as “colonial-era laws” meant to protect rulers rather than serve citizens.

Adding a sharp political dimension to his address, the Prime Minister took a firm stance on the issue of illegal infiltration. He vowed decisive action against those who enter India illegally, asserting that national security remains his government’s paramount duty.

“The rights and benefits meant for our own citizens, for our poor, for our backward classes, for our tribals, and for our daughters cannot be allowed to be snatched away by infiltrators,” Modi asserted. This statement is seen as a direct reinforcement of his government’s stance on national security and citizenship, a core issue for his political base.

Analysts view this visit as strategically timed, not just as a routine development inauguration but as a move to solidify the ruling alliance’s position and set the agenda in the politically crucial state of Bihar, where political narratives are fiercely contested.
