The Call for Justice
Zeeshan Siddique, son of the slain NCP leader Baba Siddique, has publicly appealed for justice in the wake of his father’s assassination. Baba Siddique, a former minister, was gunned down outside Zeeshan’s office in Bandra East last week, an attack that has left the family devastated.
In a heartfelt plea, Zeeshan said, “My father lost his life protecting and saving the lives and homes of poor innocent people. Today, my family is broken, but his death must not be politicized and definitely not go in vain. I need justice, my family needs justice!”
The Assassination Plot
The ongoing investigation has revealed chilling details of the attack. The shooters had been ordered to kill both Baba and Zeeshan Siddique and were prepared to fire at anyone in the vicinity. Reports suggest that the shooters had made over 10 failed attempts to kill Baba Siddique in Bandra over the past month, before succeeding last week.
Mumbai police’s crime branch has made significant progress in the case, arresting several suspects. The investigation uncovered that the suspected shooters, including Shivkumar Gautam—currently on the run—had learned firearm handling by watching YouTube videos. Gautam reportedly honed his skills during celebratory shootings at weddings in Uttar Pradesh before being hired for the assassination.
Arrests and Investigation
Two of the arrested suspects, Gurmail Singh and Dharmaraj Kashyap, revealed that Gautam had been recruited for his firearm expertise. The group trained at a rented house in Kurla, practicing loading and unloading firearms without live ammunition for weeks. Another alleged conspirator, Shubham Lonkar, was previously under police surveillance due to suspected ties with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and an earlier incident involving a shooting outside actor Salman Khan’s residence.
So far, police have arrested four individuals, including a 23-year-old man, Harishkumar Balakram, who allegedly provided logistical and financial support to the shooters. The court has sent the fourth accused to police custody until October 21.
Conclusion
As the investigation unfolds, Zeeshan Siddique remains determined to seek justice for his father’s murder. His plea underscores the emotional and personal toll the assassination has taken on his family. With multiple suspects in custody and a few still at large, the case continues to highlight the challenges of combating organized criminal plots, which have far-reaching consequences for those left behind.
