In a significant move, the Ministry of Education has directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to prepare logistics for conducting board exams twice annually starting from the 2025-26 academic session. This decision aims to offer students multiple opportunities to secure better grades without opting for the semester system, which was previously considered and discarded.
The ministry’s directive is part of the New Curriculum Framework (NCF), which emphasizes giving students ample time and flexibility in their exam preparation. By allowing two board exams per year, students will have the chance to improve their scores in the second sitting if they are unsatisfied with their initial performance.
As reported by PTI, sources within the ministry revealed that the CBSE would consult with school principals next month to finalize the implementation details. These discussions are crucial for integrating the new exam schedule into the existing academic calendar effectively, especially without disrupting the undergraduate admission timeline.
This change is expected to bring significant adjustments in how students prepare and participate in the crucial board exams, potentially easing the pressure associated with a single annual exam.
